Safeguarding the Health of Women and Girls
PUTTING THE BREAKS ON COVID-19: How to Safeguard the Health and Rights of Women aand Girls Now.
Women and girls, for the longest time, have been experiencing various vulnerabilities and inequalities. From family planning, to maternal health, to gender inequalities and gender-based violence, women are faced with situations that put them at risk on a regular basis. Sadly, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, these circumstances have worsened.
Studies have shown that during a crisis, women are at greater risk of vulnerabilities, inequalities and danger. Which is why UNFPA Philippines in partnership with the Commission on Population and Development invites us to an online forum entitled PUTTING THE BREAKS ON COVID-19: How to safeguard the health and rights of women and girls now.
Invited key speakers are Secretary of the Department of Health, Francisco Duque III, Executive Director of Philippine Commission on Women, Atty. Kristine Rosary E. Yuzon-Chavez and Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights, Karen Lucia S. Gomez-Dumpit. They will help address the issues women and girls are currently facing and will discuss protecting women’s health and rights. The event is also in celebration of the 2020 World Population Day.
This will be live on July 10, 2020, Friday at 10AM on UNFPA Philippines’ Facebook account. It will be followed by the launch of “Against My Will,” the 2020 State of the World Population Report.
See you all on this virtual celebration!
