• Bilateral Tubal Ligation: This is a surgical procedure for female sterilization in which the fallopian tubes are permanently blocked or removed. This prevents the fertilization of eggs by sperm and thus the implantation of a fertilized egg. Tubal ligation is considered a permanent method of sterilization and requires general anesthesia and a few days of recovery.
• Vasectomy: This is a surgical procedure for male sterilization in which the tubes that carry sperm from the testicles to the penis are cut and sealed. This prevents sperm from being released during ejaculation. It is a permanent method of contraception and requires local anesthesia and a few days of recovery.
