E-tricycles Deliver Reproductive Health Services in Laguna and Rizal

Access brought closer.

With the goal to help more marginalized men and women from Laguna and Rizal, the RH Bike Patrol project was set up, opening more access to reproductive health services amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Philippine Society for Responsible Parenthood, Inc. (PSRP), the Asia Pacific Management and Research Group, Inc. (APMARGIN) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), formed 10 RH Care Bike Patrol teams. One team per local government unit, where each team operated an electric tricycle that functioned as a mobile service to bring family planning services and distribution of contraceptives to the community.

In partnering with Local Government Units, the goal was specifically to provide 4,000 women with their preferred family planning needs and 100 men with No-Scalpel Vasectomy services. The RH Bike Patrol Team approach was a progressive way to reach more men and women with unmet needs for family planning and provide them free access to reproductive health services that they desire.

The project ran for twelve months from March 2021 to March 2022 in 5 LGUs of Laguna Province namely Alaminos, Calamba, Sta. Rosa, Pagsanjan, Los Baños; and 5 LGUs of Rizal Province namely Antipolo, Baras, Cainta, Rodriguez and Tanay.
