Teen Project Coordinator for Reducing Teen Pregnancy in Southern Leyte and Samar

Background:
The Teen Project Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the implementation of a project aimed at reducing teen pregnancy in Southern Leyte and Samar. The project focuses on fostering awareness, education, and community engagement to empower teenagers, educators, healthcare providers and local government executives with knowledge about sexual and reproductive health. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Philippine Society for Responsible Parenthood, Inc. (PSRP), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and local government units (LGUs).
Position: Teen Project Coordinator
Location: Samar (with travel to Southern Leyte)
Duration: Immediate start, ending on December 31, 2023
Renewal: Possible based on performance and funding
Responsibilities:
- Manage and Moderate Facebook Groups:
- Oversee and moderate four dedicated Facebook groups supporting the project’s objectives.
- Ensure respectful and productive discussions within the groups.
- Monitor content and address any inappropriate or off-topic posts. The Facebook groups are:
- Teens’ Support Group for Family Planning (Exclusive for Filipino Teenagers): https://www.facebook.com/groups/teensfprhcaremissedpill
- ASRH Health Workers Learning and Sharing Hub: https://www.facebook.com/groups/asrhhealthworkersrhcaremissedpill/
- Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) Educators Learning and Sharing Hub: https://www.facebook.com/groups/cseeducatorsrhcaremissedpill/
- LGU Adolescent Pregnancy Program Network: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lguadolescentpregnancyprogramsrhcaremissedpill/
- Facebook Groups Membership Growth and Engagement:
- Strategize methods to increase membership in the Facebook groups.
- Encourage active participation among members by initiating discussions and sharing relevant content.
- Coordination with Stakeholders:
- Collaborate with the PSRP SRH Watch Local Coordinator in Southern Leyte, as well as UNFPA’s field coordinators in Southern Leyte and Samar.
- Facilitate regular communication and information sharing among stakeholders to align efforts and share best practices.
- Coordinate and collaborate with local teen organizations, educators’ groups, healthcare workers, and LGU officials.
- Health Facility Engagement:
- Encourage both public and private health facilities in Southern Leyte and Samar to join the online health facility locator provided by rh-care info.
- Advocate for the participation of health facilities to enhance access to reproductive health services.
- Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of the activities, discussions, and growth of the Facebook groups.
- Prepare regular progress reports for submission to project leads.
Qualifications:
- College graduate from a recognized institution.
- Familiarity with Sexual and Reproductive Health:
- Demonstrated understanding of sexual and reproductive health programs, including family planning initiatives.
- Sensitivity and ability to communicate effectively on related topics.
- Communication Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in English, Filipino and the local dialect in Samar and Southern Leyte.
- Competent in using social media platforms for communication and engagement.
- Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to motivate and encourage participation among teenagers and health professionals.
- Organizational Skills:
- Proven organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Attention to detail in moderating online discussions and maintaining records.
Compensation:Â
- Monthly salary of 32,000 PHP.
- Monthly communication allowance of 1,000 PHP.
Note: This is a temporary position with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability. The Teen Project Coordinator will be based in Samar and will be required to travel to Southern Leyte as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.
