The first time I got my period was during the spread of H1N1 in PH. I thought I was having symptoms of H1N1 ’cause I feel unwell, my body temperature is above the normal temp and of course there BLOOD. So, I hid it from my parents and proceeded to attend my classes.
Then, at school our clinic nurse was taking random temperatures and since my temperature is slightly high, I was asked to stay at the clinic for interview. 😂 Eventually, they let me go and I told my mother about my period when I got home.
I was playing patintero with my friends at school back in 5th grade when they noticed a streak of blood running down on my leg. I literally thought I got hurt during the game – I cried so hard. My female friends then escorted me to the CR, and by the time they saw the blood coming from my crotch when I removed my skirt, they laughed at me soooo hard.
I was only 11 when I got my first period. I got it sa sementeryo pa 😳… while my family and I were heading to visit our departed loved ones I suddenly felt a weird ache in my stomach. Then, after an hour we went home and our relatives and my cousins were waiting for us. I headed right away into the bathroom 😱and sat down and saw this weird reddish-brown thing in my underwear.
Na-blanko ako though I told all my older female cousins and they all congratulated me and welcomed me to the group. I hid it from my mom thinking that she’ll get mad(?) Eventually she found out ðŸ˜after 3 days and I cried.
14 years old ako no’n, feeling ko late na dating ng period. Walang klase that time pero nasa school kami.
I forgot how old I was then. But I do remember feeling restless and uneasy, I was in bed the whoooole day. Finally, when I stood up, I decided to go to my brother’s room which was across my parents’ room. I saw my dad looked at me for a while and couldn’t hold my gaze – he looked rather uncomfortable which felt weird cause he is my dad yknow. Then he proceeded to do whatever it was he was doing.
I walked back to my room – ran across a full size mirror and there I saw blood splattered on my behind. It was bloody red.
I know then I was menstruation. But that was it. That is literally the only thing I know. That blood is coming out of my vagina. I do not know what to do next. Where to get the menstrual pad, how to wear it, when to remove it, how to properly dispose it. It was something that was not taught in school. It was something I had to learn by myself.
